Industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails (abbreviated as NIN and stylized as NIИ) was formed in 1988 by Trent Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio. Reznor has served as the main producer, singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and sole member of Nine Inch Nails for 28 years. This changed in December 2016 when Atticus Ross officially became the second member of the band.
Nine Inch Nails straddles a wide range of many styles of rock music and other genres that require an electronic sound, which can often cause drastic changes in sound from album to album. However NIN albums in general have many identifiable characteristics in common, such as recurring leitmotifs, chromatic melodies, dissonance, terraced dynamics and common lyrical themes.
Nine Inch Nails is most famously known for the melding of industrial elements with pop sensibilities in their first albums. This move was considered instrumental in bringing the industrial genre as a whole into the mainstream, although genre purists and Trent Reznor alike have refused to identify NIN as an industrial band.

Formed in London in 1983, Coil was initially a solo side project by John Balance, who was also a member of Psychic TV. In 1984, Balance joined forces with Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson, another founding member of Psychic TV and former Throbbing Gristle member. Tragically, John Balance passed away in 2004, leading Peter Christopherson to decide that Coil would not continue. Sadly, Peter Martin Christopherson also left us in 2010 at the age of 55.

Out of print for nearly a decade, Cold Spring Records are proud to announce the much-demanded new vinyl edition of this legendary collaboration.&nbsp;Recoiled&nbsp;is a rambunctious alchemy, of magical&nbsp;COIL&nbsp;sensibilities and hi-tech home circa '90s mixing technique, all fused in the cave-like early studios of&nbsp;Danny Hyde/Peter Christopherson. These were the unrestrained studio mix downs of four songs which long time Coil admirer/collaborator&nbsp;Trent Reznor&nbsp;(Nine Inch Nails) requested Coil to remix. Reznor sent over the original multi-tracks and DATs to Hyde/Christopherson, who independently mixed versions and then met to synch both creations, molding them into these master versions.&nbsp;Recoiled&nbsp;includes a fuller, more opulent version of the track "Closer," which eventually made it onto the opening credits to the movie&nbsp;SE7EN. These five lengthy compositions are pre-Ableton/laptop generation type priest song creations, with the use of baby alarms and numerous wires to create bespoke effects. These legendary tracks were always rumored to exist and, only the due diligence of a dedicated NIN forum who hunted them down, are released/unleashed for your listening pleasure. Four of the tracks were released on the download-only&nbsp;Uncoiled. A bonus, previously unheard track from the same sessions closes the album.&nbsp;Jhonn Balance&nbsp;is also manifest on this gilded constellation. Beautifully remastered.
