Marshall Bruce Mathers III, known by his stage name Eminem or Slim Shady, is an American rapper and record producer. Born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri, he grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Eminem began his music career as a member of Soul Intent alongside Proof in 1992. In the same year, he also founded his first record label called Mashin' Duck Records with his group.
Eminem's unique style and controversial lyrics have made him one of the most influential figures in hip-hop. With multiple Grammy Awards and countless chart-topping hits under his belt, he has become a household name worldwide.
Throughout his career, Eminem has tackled various social issues through his music while also sharing personal struggles and experiences. His raw talent and ability to captivate audiences with his storytelling have solidified him as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

 Eminem's breakthrough into the mainstream. It was pretty much all or nothing for him at this point, and the huge success of the album, lead by the single 'My Name Is', catapulted his career forward. The album is noted for its cartoonish and overly violent lyrics as well as its sharp lyricism. The production - masterminded by Dr. Dre but also helmed in large doses by Marky and Jeff Bass, along with Marshall himself - mirrors his rhymes, with their spare, intricately layered arrangements enhancing his narratives, which are always at the forefront. A stonewall classic.
