Sam Shepherd, also known as Floating Points, is a British electronic music producer and the co-founder of Eglo Records. He is renowned for his classical training and leads the 16-piece Floating Points Ensemble. With a strong passion for jazz music, he is highly regarded as a DJ and radio presenter.
Floating Points, whose real name is Sam Shepherd, has made a significant impact on the electronic music scene as both a producer and label owner. As one of the co-founders of Eglo Records, he played an instrumental role in shaping its unique sound. His own musical journey began at a young age with classical training, which has undoubtedly influenced his innovative approach to production.
In addition to his solo work, Shepherd also leads the Floating Points Ensemble - a 16-piece collective that combines elements of jazz and electronica to create mesmerizing compositions. This collaborative project showcases his versatility as an artist and highlights his ability to seamlessly blend different genres.

Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points’ music taste is notoriously tricky to define, ranging from ethereal classical at one end to coruscating techno at the other, united only in a firm belief in the transcendental power of music to move hearts, minds and – yes – feet. Similarly, his production career has ranged from early experiments in dance music with breakout records such as the ‘Shadows EP’ and collaborating with legendary Gnawa master Mahmoud Guinia to his expansive album ‘Elaenia’, which met with critical acclaim upon its release in 2015.
