Product description
Albums of the Month - April 2019
This is funky soul with classic and slick laid-back sounds grooving under smooth but raw vocals.
North Carolina-born soul veteran Lee Fields released his first single in 1969. He’s been nicknamed ‘Little JB’ for both looking and sounding like James Brown and provided some vocals for the James Brown biopic ‘Get On Up’. He’s worked with BB King, Dr John, Betty Wright and Bobby Womack and has been sampled by J Cole, Slum Village and Travis Scott. Golden notes of trumpet add splendid brass ripples to smooth summer night soul ballads. Retro soul powers the sound of classic riffs.
