<p>Marty Stuart is an American country singer/songwriter, bluegrass musician, multi-instrumentalist and Grammy-award winner. He is a member of the board of the Country Music Foundation and has served as its President. Since 1993, Stuart has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Born on September 30, 1958 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, he was married to Cindy Cash from 1979 to 1986 and later married Connie Smith in 1997.</p>

A concept album, it tells the story of a man (The Pilgrim) from Marty Stuart's hometown of Philadelphia, Mississippi. Marty plays the role of the Pilgrim, as well as other roles. The album features many country/bluegrass legends as guest stars, including Emmylou Harris, Pam Tillis, George Jones, Ralph Stanley, Earl Scruggs and Marty's old boss, Johnny Cash.
