Sofie Royer is an Austrian artist and singer-songwriter signed to Stones Throw. She was born in California to Iranian and Austrian parents.
Sofie Royer was a student of violin and viola at the Vienna Conservatoire before breaking away from the institution to live between New York, London, and Los Angeles. During this time, she gained recognition as a DJ, becoming an original member of Boiler Room and a resident DJ for NTS Radio.

Young-Girl Forever is the shimmering new electro-pop album by Vienna-based artist Sofie Royer. It follows her 2020 debut, Cult Survivor, and 2022’s Harlequin. The album paints a bold portrait of how it is to be a female artist today – amid capitalist trappings, existential uncertainties, and constant feeling that you’re out of step with other people your age. Royer borrowed the term “Young-Girl” from Preliminary Materials for the Theory of a Young-Girl, originally published in French anarchist journal Tiqqun. The book portrays the Young-Girl as a symbol of consumerism under modernity.&nbsp; Young-Girl Forever oscillates between optimism and doom –&nbsp;it celebrates the Young-Girl while also rebuking the culture that created her, and so expresses desire for true liberation.
