Product description

The band Tuleje consists of Gosia Zagajewska, Ksawery Wójciński and Wojtek Kurek. Their original arrangement of folk music from eastern Greater Poland is filled with deep respect for the original material, and at the same time expresses their subjective view of tradition. A bold look, full of references to jazz, blues, early music and free improvisation.

But Tuleje's third album marks a distinct shift towards urban rawness and a new sonic identity. The greatest change to the musical foundation is the foregrounding of the bass guitar, which almost entirely replaces the double bass from previous albums (appearing here only as subtle, nostalgic accents). This shift in instrumentation gives the material a more resilient, "asphalt" character, perfectly complementing the lyrical layer. The lyrics, this time written primarily in the third person, forgo personal confessions in favor of a keen observer.

Each track is a distinct, self-contained story embedded deep within the urban reality – from stuffy stairwells, metro stations, and night buses, to anonymous micro-dramas unfolding in neon light.

The album creates a sonic map of the metropolis, where the bass pulse becomes the rhythm of the sidewalks, and the narrator's detachment allows the listener to fully immerse themselves in the fates of the characters in these urban tales.
