The Microphones

The Microphones was the first major musical project of Phil Elvrum, the principal member of the group. Phil released music under this moniker from 1996 through 2004 before he began making music under the name Mount Eerie.

The Microphones' sound is often characterized by its lo-fi production, introspective lyrics, and experimental instrumentation. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres including indie rock, folk, and noise pop, their music has garnered a dedicated following over the years.
