Alexandre Desplat

Alexandre Desplat is a French film composer born on August 23, 1961 in Paris. He began playing piano at the age of five and later became proficient on trumpet and flute. Desplat studied with Claude Ballif, Iannis Xenakis in France, and Jack Hayes in the USA. He draws inspiration from South American and African artists such as Carlinhos Brown and Ray Lema.

Desplat has composed scores for over 100 films, starting in France before moving to Hollywood. Some of his most notable works include "The Painted Veil," "The Queen," "The Beat That My Heart Skipped," and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." He has also written music for theater performances at the Comédie Française.

In addition to his composing career, Desplat has given Master Classes at La Sorbonne in Paris and London's Royal College of Music. He is married to [a859882].
