Captain Beefheart

Captain Beefheart, born Don Van Vliet on January 15th, 1941 in Glendale, California, was a multi-talented artist known for his roles as a vocalist, harp-player, saxophonist, flautist, songwriter, lyricist, poet and painter. He gained recognition as the frontman of "Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band" and went on to record numerous official albums. Additionally, he collaborated with other artists throughout his career. In 1982, Captain Beefheart retired from music to focus on painting full time. He exhibited his artwork in galleries across New York City, the UK and Europe. Sadly, he passed away on December 17th, 2010 due to complications from multiple sclerosis.

From his first recorded appearance titled "A Low Forceps Delivery," featuring Don Glen Vliet at Glendale Research Hospital on January 15th, 1941 at 16:25 hours until his retirement as a musician in 1982 and subsequent successful career as a painter and conservationist until his passing in 2010; Captain Beefheart left an indelible mark on the art world.

Throughout his life and artistic endeavors, Captain Beefheart maintained a deep affinity for wildlife and was dedicated to conservation efforts. His passion for both music and visual arts allowed him to express himself creatively in unique ways that continue to captivate audiences today.
