Grandmaster Flash

DJ and producer Grandmaster Flash is a Barbadian artist known for his influential role in DJ and Hip Hop history. He was born on January 1, 1958, in Barbados and later moved to New York City. Inspired by the block parties and DJs in his Bronx neighborhood, Flash developed his own unique style by combining DJ Kool Herc's "merry go round" technique with Grand Wizard Theodore's scratch technique. This innovative approach, known as 'cutting the break', revolutionized Hip Hop. Flash formed the group Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, which became the first Hip Hop act to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

Following the breakup of The Furious Five, Flash recorded albums for Elektra label before reuniting with them for the album 'On The Strength' in 1988. Despite struggling with drug addiction, he made a comeback with DJ Mix albums, a radio show, and TV appearances. In 1998, he released an album titled 'Flash Is Back' under Marlboro label in Germany. In 2009, he released another studio album called 'The Bridge: Concept Of A Culture', which symbolizes the various bridges he has crossed throughout his career - bridging time, cultures, colors, genres like Hip Hop, funk pop rock jazz punk disco R&B.
