Lights

Lights is a Canadian singer and songwriter known for her electropop, synthpop, and indietronica music. Born Valerie Anne Poxleitner on April 11, 1987, in Timmins, Ontario, she began playing guitar at a young age and was part of the metal band Shovel Face during high school. After gaining a following on MySpace, Lights embarked on a solo career and signed with Sony Music Publishing. Her debut single "Drive My Soul" achieved moderate success in Canada. She released her self-titled EP in 2008 followed by her full-length debut album "The Listening" in 2009.

In 2011, Lights collaborated with the electronica band Holy Fuck to create her sophomore album "Siberia," which received critical acclaim. The album featured the single "Toes," a synthpop dance track that gained popularity in North America and the United Kingdom. An acoustic version of Siberia was released in 2013 with collaborations including Owl City.

Lights' third studio album "Little Machines" was released in 2014 and included the hit single "Up We Go." The album also had an acoustic counterpart titled "Midnight Machines." In 2017, she announced her fourth studio album "Skin & Earth," accompanied by a comic book series written and illustrated by herself. The lead single from the album was "Giants."
