The Bluetones are a London-based four-piece indie-pop band formed in 1993. They were highly successful during the peak of Britpop in the mid-90's, achieving a debut number one album that knocked Oasis' (What's The Story) Morning Glory? from the top spot. Their most famous song, "Slight Return," just missed out on a number one single due to Babylon Zoo's "Spaceman" being featured in a Levi's TV ad. Despite this, Scott joked that he actually bought a copy of "Spaceman." In their early days, they shared a house in Hounslow with Dodgy.
In 2011, The Bluetones decided to call it quits and embarked on a farewell tour. However, Mark continued to record and tour solo material. The band later reunited for an anniversary tour in 2015/6 and also re-released two demos (including Slight Return) on limited edition 7" vinyls for the occasion.
Eds from The Bluetones went to school with Gem Archer of Heavy Stereo and Oasis fame. With their catchy indie-pop sound, The Bluetones have often been compared to similar artists such as The Seahorses, Shed Seven, Dodgy, Longpigs, Sleeper, Ocean Colour Scene, Mansun, Cast, Echobelly, and Gene among others.
