The Dead South

A Canadian folk-bluegrass musical ensemble from Regina, Saskatchewan, *The Dead South* sings about murderous, estranged spouses and runaway lover cousins in a boot-stomping acoustic configuration. Their unique take on the Bluegrass genre includes banjo, mandolin, cello, guitar, whistles, hoots and hollerin’, and finger snappin’. The band was formed in 2012 when Nate and Danny decided to put their own spin on tradition after being inspired by artists like Trampled By Turtles and Old Crow Medicine Show. Colton and Scott joined later on, adding more bodies to the group. Despite not having any clue what they were doing at first, they managed to create fun yet serious music with impressive musicianship.
