Young Marble Giants
Young Marble Giants is a Welsh post-punk band that was formed in Cardiff, Wales, in 1978. The band consisted of Alison Statton on vocals and brothers Philip and Stuart Moxham on minimalist instrumentation. They released their only studio album, Colossal Youth, in 1980, along with two EPs and a John Peel session recording. After the band disbanded, Statton went on to form Weekend and later became part of The Marine Girls. Meanwhile, the Moxham brothers formed Everything but the Girl and continued making music for various labels.
This influential band created a unique sound that combined Statton's haunting vocals with stripped-down instrumentals. Their music continues to inspire artists across genres today.
