The Beastie Boys are an American hip hop band that formed in New York in 1981. Originally a hardcore punk combo, they gained success with their first hip hop track, "Cooky Puss" in 1983. The group transitioned into a rap group that occasionally incorporated punk rock tracks into their albums. From 1992 to 2001, they operated the Grand Royal label. Following the death of Adam Yauch in 2012, the band officially disbanded in June 2014.

The original members of the Beastie Boys included Ad Rock (Adam Horovitz) on vocals and guitar from 1982 until 2014, MCA (Adam Yauch) on vocals and bass from 1981 until his passing in 2012, and Mike D (Michael Diamond) on vocals and drums from 1981 until 2014. The band also had additional members during various periods including Kate Schellenbach on drums from 1981 to 1984.

Throughout their career, the Beastie Boys collaborated with several touring members such as Rick Rubin as DJ Double R from 1984 to 1985, DJ Hurricane from 1986 to1997, Mix Master Mike from1998 to2014 among others. Their unique blend of genres and energetic performances made them one of the most influential groups in hip hop history.

Capitol Records, founded in 1942 as Liberty Records, is a renowned music label based in Hollywood, California. With a rich history and impressive sales of 42 million records by 1946, Capitol quickly became one of the Big Six studios. In 1955, it was acquired by British company EMI for $8.5 million and later became part of the Universal Music Group's Worldwide division in 1979. The merger with Priority Records in 2001 further solidified Capitol's position in the industry.

EMI began releasing Capitol products in the UK, Europe, and Australasia from January 1956 onwards after licenses with other record companies expired. Over the years, Capitol has seen various changes in ownership and management. In September 2012, it was purchased by Vivendi S.A., owner of Universal Music Group.

Capitol Records is known for its distinctive album prefix codes that provide valuable information about each release. These codes include letters indicating stereo or mono recordings, price codes denoting different list prices, indicators for multiple discs or special packaging.

Hot Sauce Committee Part Two is the Beastie Boys' eighth album. Their wizard blend of goofy creativity and deft discipline ensures that the best tracks here are simultaneously scattershot and focussed – like the way Too Many Rappers cooks up mean funk from Space Invaders noise and cranium-crushing low-end (and throws in a guesting Nas), or how Say It pulls nagging hooks from abstract feedback drones and then welds them to subterranean bass grooves that could level mountains, before collapsing into stoned synth doodles that’ll amuse all but the terminally dreary. On paper, both are messes; but on record they make canny sense. The sound of the Beasties here is catnip for those who still revere their late 80s/early 90s output: vocals are drenched in reverb like a hippie dabs patchouli, while the tracks fuse live instrumentation and samples with a simpatico they’ve perfected since Check Your Head, delivering tracks alive with ideas and chaos and funk and noise and groove, dense enough to get lost in for at least a summer. They don’t shy away from pop moments, though: OK has a dippy new wave catchiness evoking Ad-Rock’s BS 2000 side-project – it’s as infectious as crabs – while the dub-a-delic Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win has Santigold playing straight-woman to their Marx-Brothers-of-Rap lunacy with an aplomb that could own the charts if the weather stays balmy.
