Carl Stone

Carl Stone is an American composer and pioneer in the field of live electronic music. Born on February 10, 1953, he studied composition at the California Institute of the Arts under renowned composers Morton Subotnick and James Tenney. Since 1972, Stone has been creating captivating electro-acoustic music that pushes boundaries and challenges traditional notions of sound.

Currently a faculty member in the Department of Information Media at Chukyo University in Japan, Stone also resides and works in San Francisco. His unique approach to music combines intricate compositions with innovative technology, resulting in mesmerizing performances that captivate audiences worldwide.

Influenced by a diverse range of artists such as David Toop, Pauline Oliveros, Jon Hassell, Laurie Spiegel, Nuno Canavarro, and many others from various genres and backgrounds. Carl Stone's work stands out for its ability to seamlessly blend different musical elements into a cohesive whole.
