Dead Prez

Dead Prez is an American hip-hop duo founded in 1996 in New York City. Consisting of members Sticman and M-1, they are known for their focus on militant social justice, self-determination, and Pan-Africanism.

The duo first met in Tallahassee, Florida in 1990 while attending FAMU. Despite living in different cities - Sticman from Shadeville, Florida and M-1 from Brooklyn, New York - they maintained a close connection before officially forming the group a few years later.

In addition to their music career, Dead Prez leads an organization called the People's Army based in Brooklyn. They gained recognition after signing with Loud Records following an encounter with Lord Jammar at a party. Since then, dead prez has been making waves in the hip-hop scene.
