1. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - Hope Downs

Now let's talk straight. Whilst their 2017 EP The French Press still reigns supreme, this rollicking, sun-drenched joyride of a debut does not disappoint. I feel like I've waited for a band like this for a long time. What makes them 'a band like this' I hear you yap? Well, not entirely sure. Might be the 3-man strong singer/guitarist frontline, the goddamn glorious jangle rock or not being able to take my eyes of bassist Joe Russo's nodding head finesse. I've seen them three times this year and it wasn't anywhere close to enough. I am hooked, slave to whatever they put out next.

Shameless plug: If you're an avid Rough Trade Podcast listener, you'll be no stranger to RBCF. I talk about them any chance I get. Fitting then that I chatted to them for the Albums Of The Year Special.
