Les Big Byrd is Joakim Åhlund, Frans Johansson, Nino Keller and Martin "Konie" Ehrencrona - somewhat of a "supergroup" in their hometown of Stockholm, Sweden- with members of cult bands including Caesars, Fireside, Teddybears, Viagra Boys and more. The band's debut album "They Worshipped Cats" (A Recordings) and the previous EP "Back to Bagarmossen" (PNKSLM Recordings) arrived in the spring of 2014 and was followed by tours around Scandinavia and Europe with GOAT and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. The following year the band released another two EPs via A Recordings and Höga Nord Records, with Les Big Byrd establishing themselves as one of the most excited new psych acts around the world, before starting work on the sequel to "They Worshipped Cats."

Following several sessions recording with both Pete Kember (Spacemen 3/Sonic Boom) and Anton Newcombe (BJM), Les Big Byrd returned last May with the single "Two Man Gang" which became one of the year's biggest indie hits in Scandinavia as well as nominated for a Swedish Grammy Award. Now the band is back with their new full length, "Iran Iraq IKEA", again on PNKSLM Recordings. "Iran Iraq IKEA" manages to straddle perfectly between the pop leaning "Two Man Gang" and the previous more kraut-psych releases, effortlessly blending repetitive bass lines with painfully honest lyrics.

“It’s about classic topics like love and failure. And about being older and feeling like you’ve pissed your life away, It’s about regrets and wishing you’d done things another way,” explains Åhlund. “You know, this is the first band that I’ve ever been the singer in, so it’s the first time I can take ownership of the lyrics. In my previous bands I’ve written words for other people to sing, and that’s always a little bit weird. Iran Iraq IKEA feels more personal and more true.
