Over the span of their 29-year career at the forefront of electronic music, Orbital have toured extensively and released 9 studio albums. They have played and headlined major festivals across the globe, including Glastonbury, Homelands, Tribal Gathering, Fuji Rock, Lollapalooza, V Festival, Benicassim, Big Chill, Electric Picnic, Global Gathering, Creamfields, Woodstock and Coachella. Their 1994 show was in Q Magazine’s Top 10 of their Top 50 Gigs of All Time and 2nd out of The Telegraph’s 100 Best Ever Glastonbury Performances. Q Magazine also cited Orbital as one of 50 Bands to See Before You Die. They also performed at the 2012 London Paralympics Opening Ceremony with Professor Stephen Hawking.
Most recently, Orbital released their first new album in five years - ‘Monsters Exist’, out September 14th 2018. ‘Monsters Exist’ is a more classically structured Orbital album than their previous release ‘Wonky’, drawing inspiration from the international political landscape all the way back from Paul and Phil’s pre-rave squat-punk roots right up to the volatile tensions and erratic rhetoric of today. Among the tracks is a cosmic piece featuring an address for the possible end of the world by Prof. Brian Cox (“It’s Brian being emo,” says Paul. “Brian Emo”). “The master plan for this one,” says Paul, “is to make a bloody good album. And then see what happens.” Orbital brought their groundbreaking live show to BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend in Belfast on May 25, and throughout 2018 will play a string of high-profile festival dates and headline shows across Europe, featuring new material alongside classics like ‘Chime’, ‘Belfast’ and ‘Impact’.
