Dave Haslam will be in-store and in-conversation at Rough Trade NOTTINGHAM, discussing and signing copies of his latest books.

Dave Haslam discusses his life and career and a DJ – particularly at Manchester’s Hacienda club - and his writing, especially his acclaimed memoirs ‘Sonic Youth Slept On My Floor’, and his current series of mini-books, including the latest; exploring the music and nightlife of New York that inspired the artist Keith Haring.

In the 1980s, Haslam was a fanzine editor who then took a job DJ-ing at the Hacienda. He featured there on almost five hundred occasions, including the final night of the club in June 1997. He has since DJ'd worldwide, from Berlin and Ibiza, to Cleveland, Ohio and Lima, Peru.

His fifth book, ‘Sonic Youth Slept On My Floor’, was a Rough Trade ‘Book of the Year’, received great reviews everywhere from The Sunday Times to the Quietus; was recommended by Q Magazine (“For fans of club culture, pop music, youthful exuberance and grown-up wisdom”); and described as “Book of the year” by Radio 6 Music DJ Gilles Peterson.

Books will be available to buy on the night, and the event will conclude with a signing session.
