Freddie King

Freddie King, an American blues guitarist and singer, was born on September 3, 1934 in Gilmer, Texas. He moved to Chicago in 1949 and made his mark in the music industry when he released his first record as a leader in 1956. Known for his groundbreaking performances with a multi-racial backing band, Freddie King is often referred to as one of the "three kings" of electric blues guitar alongside Albert King and B.B. King.

In recognition of his immense talent and contribution to the blues genre, September 3 was declared as Freddie King Day by proclamation from Texas Governor Ann Richards in 1993. Rolling Stone magazine also acknowledged his greatness by ranking him 15th on their list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Furthermore, Freddie King's legacy was solidified when he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
