Freddy King

Nat King Cole, born on March 17, 1919 in Montgomery, Alabama, was a prominent jazz pianist and vocalist. His trio of piano, guitar, and bass set the standard for many musicians to come. With his composition "Straighten Up and Fly Right" in 1943, he achieved his first vocal hit. Known for his soft baritone voice, Cole became an iconic figure in mainstream pop music. He made history as one of the first African Americans to host a television variety show called "The Nat King Cole Show" on NBC in 1956.

Cole's influence extended beyond his musical achievements. He received numerous accolades throughout his career including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990 and induction into both the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame (1997) and the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame (2000).
