Gerry Rafferty was a Scottish guitarist, singer, and songwriter known for his solo hits "Baker Street" and "Right Down the Line", as well as his work with the band Stealers Wheel on "Stuck in the Middle with You". Born into a working-class family in Paisley, Scotland, Rafferty's musical upbringing included Irish and Scottish folk songs taught by his mother. Influenced by The Beatles and Bob Dylan, he joined the folk-pop band The Humblebums before pursuing a successful solo career. His album "City to City" featured the iconic song "Baker Street".
Born on April 16th, 1947 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, Gerry Rafferty sadly passed away at age 63 on January 4th, 2011 due to liver and kidney problems at his daughter's home in Stroud, Gloucestershire, England.
Rafferty's musical legacy continues to resonate with fans worldwide through his timeless songs that showcase his exceptional talent as a musician.

Rhino Records, also known as Rhino, is a renowned music label that was established in 1973 by Richard Foos. Starting as a record store in Westwood California, Rhino quickly gained recognition with its first successful release "Go To Rhino Records" by Wild Man Fischer in 1975. The label's early logo featured "Rocky the Rhino" and focused on novelty, surf, local new wave bands, and reissues of out-of-print records from other labels.

Under the guidance of Bill Inglot for production, Ken Perry for mastering, and A&R team Gary Stewart and James Austin, Rhino expanded its catalog to include a wide range of reissues by the mid-1980s. The label underwent a logo redesign during this time period to simply "Rhino". In 1984, Rhino released its first CD and became known for manufacturing high-quality CDs made by Sanyo (1984-85) and various manufacturers from Japan or Switzerland thereafter.

In 1985, Rhino entered into a distribution deal with Capitol Records which lasted until 1992. This partnership allowed access to Capitol's back catalog and led to the release of reissues of old Capitol albums. Additionally, EMI and Rhino acquired the Roulette family of labels in 1989. As their deal with Capitol came to an end in 1992, Time-Warner offered an opportunity for growth. Half of the label was sold to Time-Warner

From 2006, Gerry started work on a new album on and off, but sadly passed away in 2011. His daughter, Martha Rafferty, sought to complete a project started by father, culminating in Rest In Blue. Many of the demos left by Gerry included multiple layers of synths, which Martha stripped back to showcase his immense vocal ability. The result is an album brimming with raw emotion, and a quintessential collection of blues, rock, and folk. Some of the demos date back as far as 1970, many of which Rafferty had singled out as potential tracks for his new album.

With elements of the songs written at varying parts of Gerry’s career, the album tackles a variety of topics including, climate change on Sign Of The Times, questioning the legality of war in Lost Highway, and addressing problems with his alcoholism in the emotively honest Still In Denial. As well as many brand-new originals penned by Gerry, the album features popular traditional folk songs such as Wild Mountain Thyme and Dirty Old Town. It also features a cover of Richard and Linda Thompson’s It’s Just The Motion, an artist Gerry was a big admirer of. The album finishes with a re-record of the Stealers Wheel classic Stuck In The Middle With You recorded back in the 90s, that gives the track a fresh, country-inspired interpretation. Rest In Blue called upon many musicians that had worked closely with Gerry throughout his career.
