Gregory Isaacs, also known as the Cool Ruler, was a famous Jamaican "Lovers" Reggae Singer. He began his recording career at the age of 18 in 1969 and continued until 2010. In 1972, he founded the Label with [a45924]. Born on July 15, 1951, in Fletchers Land, Kingston, Jamaica, Gregory Isaacs left a lasting impact on the reggae music scene. His unique style and smooth vocals made him one of the most influential artists in the genre.

Throughout his career, Gregory Isaacs captivated audiences with his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. He gained recognition for his romantic ballads and became known as the "Cool Ruler" for his suave persona on stage. His music resonated with fans around the world and earned him a dedicated following.

Conceived by Gregory and Ossie Hibbert as an album project it contained three of the Cool Ruler’s greatest hits Smile, Slave Master and Set The Captives Free. Mr Isaacs status as one of reggae’s cornerstone albums was cemented when it was reissue in 2001 on the Blood and Fire label.
