He gained recognition as a member of the Denver-based alternative rock band The Czars during the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2010, he embarked on a successful solo career. Notably, Grant relocated to Iceland in 2013 and was granted Icelandic citizenship in 2022.

With his unique blend of alternative rock and introspective lyrics, John Grant has captivated audiences worldwide. His time with The Czars laid the foundation for his solo success, allowing him to explore his own musical identity.
