Johnny Cash was an American singer-songwriter, actor, musician and author. He was born on February 26, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas, USA as J.R. Cash and passed away on September 12, 2003 in Baptist Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Known for his influential contributions to country music, Cash earned the nickname "The Man in Black" due to his all-black stage wardrobe.Cash was married to country singer June Carter and had a younger brother named Tommy Cash. His younger sister is Joanne Cash and he also had an older brother named Roy Cash Sr. Additionally, his nephew is Roy Cash Jr. From his first marriage with Vivian Liberto, Johnny Cash had a daughter named Rosanne Cash who became a successful singer-songwriter. He was also the stepfather of Carlene Carter who is the daughter of June Carter and her first husband Carl Smith.In recognition of his immense talent and impact on music history, Johnny Cash was honoured with inductions into several prestigious halls of fame including the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1977, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980, the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 (as a performer), and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
