Rough Trade Albums of the Month - January 2019
Crashing pop vibrant and teeming with life, like the essence of 80s sugary indie-pop distilled to within an inch of its musical life.
Singer and songwriter Sarah Bonito was raised in the suburbs of Hokkaido in Japan and moved to the UK as she hit her teens. This is her second album and includes bassist Jamie, drummer Gus and guitarist Jamie Rowland plus guest appearances from Jennifer Walton, Calum Bowen, Cecile Believe, Oscar Scheller and Crying’s Z. This is her second album.
Crazy synths hit like doodlebugs meshing the mish-mash into a sugar OD party. Crazy, noisy guitars motorboat into a fountain of frantic glitchy casio pop while the honey/candy/100s and 1000s vocals cascade sending you into blissed out overload.
