L7 is an American punk/alternative rock band hailing from Los Angeles. Formed in 1985, the band consists of Donita Sparks on vocals and guitar, Dee Plakas on drums, Suzi Gardner on guitar and vocals, and Jennifer Finch on bass. After disbanding in 2000, L7 reunited in 2015 to continue their musical journey.

Known for their fierce energy and raw sound, L7 has been a prominent figure in the punk and alternative rock scene. With powerful vocals and intense guitar riffs, they have captivated audiences worldwide. Their lineup has seen changes over the years with Gail Greenwood and Janis Tanaka also contributing as former bassists.

L7 should not be confused with L-Seven, a short-lived group that featured future members of Warrior Soul and Laughing Hyenas. Similar artists to L7 include 7 Year Bitch, Babes In Toyland, Hole, Courtney Love, Lunachicks, Veruca Salt, Green River, Mudhoney, Bikini Kill,and many more.

Short for "Subterranean Pop" 

The label was an outgrowth of [a=Bruce Pavitt]'s Olympia, WA based (print) fanzine, which became the well respected cassettezine of the same name. 

After his move to Seattle he ran a music column in the Seattle Rocket also called Sub Pop.

After initial forays into the record label world with a [a=Green River] 7" (not officially on Sub Pop) and the Sub Pop 100 LP, the label exploded onto the indie scene with four influential colored vinyl 7"s which included [a=Mudhoney]'s "Touch Me I'm Sick" which made the year-end top 10 playlist of nearly every music journalist in the world.

Subsequent hyping of the label in the English music press put them on the map, and grunge was born.

Label-Code is 03159; rarely found printed on releases (basically only on releases manufactured/licensed by Warner/WEA Germany)

This 30th-anniversary edition of the ‘90s underground rock classic Smell the Magic includes all 9 songs from the album, remastered and available together on vinyl for the first time ever! A multitude of rock music scenes populated the expanse of Los Angeles in 1989: hardcore punk, industrial goth, roots rock, and Sunset Strip hair metal, to name a few. L7 fit into none of them, creating their own unique blend of punk and hard, hooky rock loaded with humor and cultural commentary. Originally released in 1990, Smell the Magic is a a landmark of '90s feminist rock.
