Enja

Enja Records is a German label that was founded in July 1971 in Munich by jazz fans Horst Weber and Matthias Winckelmann. Initially, the label's distribution was handled by Bellaphon until March 1999, with some releases also being distributed by ECM Records. Since April 2002, Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH has managed the distribution of new releases, while Galileo Music Communication has taken care of the back-catalogue since April 2009. In January 2019, Enja Records' distribution was taken over by Groove Attack.

In 1986, Weber and Winckelmann decided to separate and work individually, resulting in two Enja Records labels: Enja-Horst Weber and Enja-Matthias Winckelmann. However, more recently, the catalogues have reunited under the leadership of Werner Aldinger for both the former ENJA Horst Weber part and the new label Yellow Bird. Aldinger also administers ENJA Records M. Winckelmann.

Enja Records also has an active publishing department called enja European New Jazz Musikverlagsgesellschaft mbH.
