Peaceville

Mayhem is a black metal band hailing from Ski/Oslo, Norway. Formed in 1984-1993 and then again in 1995, they have become notorious for their dark history. This includes the tragic suicide of singer Per Yngve Ohlin, the murder of Øystein Aarseth by Varg Vikernes, and a series of church arsons that led to Vikernes' conviction.

The current lineup consists of Jørn "Necrobutcher" Stubberud on bass, Jan Axel "Hellhammer" Blomberg on drums, Attila Csihar on vocals, Morten "Teloch" Iversen on guitar, and Charles "Ghul" Hedger on guitar.

Over the years, Mayhem has seen various former members including Kjetil Manheim on drums/percussions, Sven Erik "Maniac" Kristiansen as vocalist during different periods, Per Yngve "Dead" Ohlin as vocalist until his untimely death in 1991, Louis "Count Grishnackh" Cachet (aka Kristian Vikernes) on bass guitar for a brief period and Snorre "Blackthorn" Ruch and Rune "Blasphemer" Erikson both contributing as guitarists at different times.

Peaceville is an English label founded by Paul Halmshaw, also known as Hammy, in 1987. The label primarily focuses on metal music and has gained a reputation for its high-quality releases. In 2000, Peaceville was sold to Snapper Music but continues to thrive under their ownership.

Throughout its history, Peaceville has used various catalog number formats to distinguish different types of releases. From 1987 to 1995, the label used "VILE ### T" for 12-inch singles, maxis, and EPs; "VILE ###" for LPs; and "VILE ### P" for picture LPs. From 1987 to 2002, CD releases were labeled as "CDVILE### / VILE ### CD," while MCDs/singles/EPs were labeled as "CDMVILE### / VILE ### TCD." Limited CDs were marked with "CDXVILE###."

In later years, Peaceville introduced new catalog number formats such as "CC#" for the Collectors Club series of 7-inch records in 1993-1994. Re-issued CDs with slipcases from 1999 onwards are labeled as "CDVILEM###." Since 2002, CDs have been designated as "CDVILEF###," limited CDs as "CDVILEF###X," MCDs/singles/EPs as "CD

The 1989 Out From The Dark rehearsal release, featuring the iconic and classic mayhem line-up. Now reissued on the vinyl format 30 years after the rehearsal took place, with cover artwork featuring vocalist, Dead. Out from the Dark features a rare and ferocious rehearsal from the Mayhem archive which was recorded back in 1989 and is a chance to hear tracks from the quartet’s early years in all their raw and brutal glory, including classics such as Freezing Moon, Funeral Fog and Deathcrush. The band would embark upon a serious of live shows in Norway and Germany the following year which would eventually go down in black metal legend, with those recordings also now immortalised.
