Merry Clayton is a soul, gospel, rhythm 'n' blues disco singer and actress. Born on December 25, 1948 in Gert Town, New Orleans, Louisiana, she began her music career at the age of 14 with a duet alongside Bobby Darin. Throughout her career, Merry has collaborated with renowned artists such as Mick Jagger and Neil Young. She gained recognition for her powerful performance on "Gimme Shelter" with Mick Jagger and was featured in the award-winning documentary "20 Feet from Stardom". Merry's vocals can also be heard on popular songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. With multiple solo albums released over the years, including the hit song "Yes" from the soundtrack of "Dirty Dancing", Merry Clayton continues to captivate audiences with her exceptional talent.
