Michael Rother

German experimental musician Michael Rother was born on September 2, 1950 in Hamburg. He began his musical career as a member of the group Spirit of Sound with Wolfgang Riechmann and Wolfgang Flür until 1970. During this time, he briefly played with Kraftwerk before leaving to form Neu! with Klaus Dinger. Alongside Neu!, Rother also collaborated with Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius of Cluster in a project called Harmonia. In 1976, Rother embarked on a solo career while still touring with Moebius until 2014.

Michael Rother's unique sound and innovative approach to music have influenced numerous artists in the experimental genre.
