My Dying Bride is a British doom band that was formed in 1990. Originally starting out as a slower-than-usual death metal act, the band quickly became known for their unique blend of doom metal, incorporating elements of death and black metal. Their first recording, "Towards The Sinister," led to their debut EP "Symphonaire Infernus Et Spera Empyrium" and their first full-length album "As the Flower Withers." The success of these releases paved the way for further experimentation with different musical styles on albums like "Turn Loose The Swans" and "The Angel And The Dark River."

Despite achieving commercial success, My Dying Bride never stopped pushing boundaries and exploring new sounds. This can be heard on albums like "34.788%...Complete," which showcased their willingness to innovate within their own original style. Over the years, they have influenced many other bands and even spawned a subgenre.

The band has seen some lineup changes throughout its history, including replacements due to pregnancy and departures. However, this has not hindered their ability to create powerful music. With Calvin Robertshaw rejoining the band after 15 years and Shaun Macgowan stepping in as a replacement member, My Dying Bride continues to captivate audiences with their distinctive sound.

Peaceville is an English label founded by Paul Halmshaw, also known as Hammy, in 1987. The label primarily focuses on metal music and has gained a reputation for its high-quality releases. In 2000, Peaceville was sold to Snapper Music but continues to thrive under their ownership.

Throughout its history, Peaceville has used various catalog number formats to distinguish different types of releases. From 1987 to 1995, the label used "VILE ### T" for 12-inch singles, maxis, and EPs; "VILE ###" for LPs; and "VILE ### P" for picture LPs. From 1987 to 2002, CD releases were labeled as "CDVILE### / VILE ### CD," while MCDs/singles/EPs were labeled as "CDMVILE### / VILE ### TCD." Limited CDs were marked with "CDXVILE###."

In later years, Peaceville introduced new catalog number formats such as "CC#" for the Collectors Club series of 7-inch records in 1993-1994. My Dying Bride’s 2012 album, A Map of All Our Failures, distinctively combined sumptuous dual guitar melodies and juggernaut dark metal riffs. The doom-laden croon of vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe recites tragic tales over powerful soundscapes to elicit a deep sense of tragedy and foreboding.

A Map of All Our Failures was perhaps most effectively summarised byguitarist Andrew Craighan at the time, who described the album as, “A controlled demolition of all your hopes”, and the opus was considered one of the modern standout releases in the rich catalogue of the UK Doom Metal legends. The album recording and mix were completed at Futureworks Studios in Manchester UK, with long-standing production maestro Mags at the helm.
