Popol Vuh

Pioneers of German "krautrock" music, Popol Vuh was the brainchild of Florian Fricke (1944-2001). Their debut album "Affenstunde" (1970) showcased their early foray into electronic music, featuring the impressive use of the Moog synthesizer and percussion. With "In Den Gärten Pharaos" (1971), they ventured into a fusion of electronic and organ sounds, creating an intense and almost spiritual ambient music experience. From "Hosianna Mantra" (1972) onwards, Popol Vuh shifted towards avant-garde progressive rock, leaving behind their electronic roots. Tragically, Florian Fricke passed away in 2001 in his sleep.
