Bauhaus is an English Post-Punk band that was formed in Northampton in 1978. Originally named "Bauhaus 1919" after the school of the same name, they dropped the "1919" from their name within a year of being together.
After disbanding in 1983, Bauhaus reunited for a tour in 1998. Following the breakup, Daniel Ash, David Haskins, and Kevin Haskins pursued other musical projects while Peter Murphy collaborated with [a59922] for a year before embarking on a solo career.
The band reformed once again and embarked on another tour in 2005 but ultimately broke up for good in 2008 after releasing their final studio album "Go Away White".

Founded in 1977 by Martin Mills and Nick Austin, Beggars Banquet is a renowned UK indie label that has made its mark on the music industry. In 1981, Bauhaus had no competition in the field of 'goth' music and could afford to experiment a little. Mask is the group's second album, and it contains some of their best work. There is the groove of Dancing, a track that contains one of the album's two curious references to ballet dancer Nijinsky (the other is in Muscle in Plastic), and the creepy Hollow Hills, its bass-driven skeleton decorated with distant peals of feedback and sparse drumming. The title cut features Peter Murphy singing over a backwards music track that adds considerable menace to the bizarre lyrics.
