Notably, during her portrayal of Lady Macbeth in New York in 1942, she made headlines for refusing to perform due to a costume dispute. This incident led to Regina Resnik's professional debut as Lady Macbeth. In 1944, Given debuted at the Met and later appeared as a guest at the Greek National Opera in the 1950s. One of her final concerts featured a captivating recital of both ancient and modern Greek music at Gettysburg College on April 25, 1958.
