Joy Division was a British punk/post-punk/new wave band formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. Originally named Warsaw, they quickly changed their name to Joy Division at the start of 1978. The band gained recognition with the release of their first EP. Tragically, lead vocalist Ian Curtis took his own life on May 18, 1980. Following this devastating event, the remaining members formed New Order, as agreed upon prior to Curtis's death.The band consisted of Ian Curtis on vocals and occasional guitar, Bernard Sumner on guitar and keyboards, Peter "Hooky" Hook on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Stephen Morris on drums and percussion.Despite their short-lived career, Joy Division left an indelible mark on the music industry with their unique sound that blended punk rock with post-punk and new wave influences. Their haunting lyrics and atmospheric melodies continue to resonate with fans around the world.

Ozit is an independent UK label that was formed in 1996 by Chris Hewitt and Dave Edwards. It incorporates Roach Records, Ozit Records, and the American label Morpheus Records. The label specializes in releasing rarities of artists from the 1960s to 1980s, although the legality of some releases, particularly those related to Joy Division, is disputed.
With its origins in Northwich, Cheshire, Ozit has established itself as a prominent player in the music industry. Led by Chris Hewitt and Dave Edwards, the label brings together various record labels including Roach Records and Ozit Records. Additionally, it acquired Morpheus Records from Darl Morgan based in America.
Ozit focuses on unearthing rare gems from artists spanning three decades - the 1960s to 1980s. Their catalog boasts an impressive collection of musical treasures that have been long sought after by enthusiasts worldwide. However, it's worth noting that certain releases have faced legal disputes due to their association with Joy Division.

Repress! This band? never going to get anywhere. Discovered by friends of Martin Hannett recently and with input from one of his relatives, these recordings give a rare insight into his production ideas for Joy Division and his relationship with the band.,the strange things/ sound effects they recorded in the studio together etc etc ,.the studio chit chat and interplay between Hannett, Gretton and Joy Division members is all here as Martin left his own tape machine running throughout studio sessions. On this album there are rare alternative mixes of Joy Division that were Martin's personal favourites and he had the forethought to get the band members to give him control of these recordings. A must for all Joy Division fans.
