Scottish 'post-rock' band formed in Glasgow in 1995 by Stuart Braithwaite (guitars, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (guitars) and Martin Bulloch (drums). John Cummings soon joined as an additional guitarist.
Brendan O'Hare, formerly of Teenage Fanclub, temporarily joined the band in 1997 and contributed to their debut LP Young Team. O'Hare left at the end of that year. After touring with Mogwai in the summer of 1998, multi-instrumentalist Barry Burns was invited to become a full-time member.

PIAS is an international licensing, distribution, sales and marketing company for premium music, film and comedy. The name is short for Play It Again Sam. Headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, the group also has significant operations in the UK, France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, and Ireland.The Group was founded in 1982 by Kenny Gates and Michel Lambot who are still the co-presidents of the Group. Recorded with Andy Miller at Chemikal Underground and mixed by Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom, The Hawk Is Howling&nbsp;saw Mogwai return to a totally instrumental landscape on their sixth studio album. It marked the first time the band recorded with Andy Miller since they worked with him on their debut album Young Team. The album features the single Batcat.

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the release, the album will be made available as a newly remastered 2LP White Vinyl (limited to 4,000) on September 22nd, fifteen years to the day since the album’s original release. The album was remastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios. In addition to this special release, limited coloured vinyl represses of Rock Action, Happy Songs For Happy People, and Mr. Beast&nbsp;will also release on September 22nd.

Rock Action&nbsp;will be pressed on transparent red vinyl (limited to 5,000), Happy Songs For Happy People&nbsp;on transparent green vinyl (limited to 5,000) and Mr. Beast&nbsp;on crystal clear vinyl (limited to 4,000).
