Fat Possum Records is a label that was established in 1991 with the sole purpose of recording R.L. Burnside. Over time, it evolved into a mission to discover and record the last remaining original bluesmen before they passed away. Despite facing various challenges such as difficult personalities, limited songs, and a raw sound that didn't fit the mainstream blues market, these artists possessed immense talent and truly lived the blues.

In recent years, Fat Possum has expanded its catalog to include newer indie blues rock bands alongside their traditional offerings.

Spiritualized is a British space rock band that was founded in 1990 in Rugby, Warwickshire. Led by Jason Pierce, the band has always featured a rotating cast of supporting musicians.
With their unique blend of psychedelic and experimental sounds, Spiritualized has captivated audiences worldwide. Their music takes listeners on a cosmic journey, exploring themes of love, spirituality, and transcendence.
Known for their mesmerizing live performances and critically acclaimed albums such as "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space," Spiritualized continues to push boundaries and redefine the genre of space rock.

Pure Phase is the second album by Spiritualized, originally released on 28 March 1995. The album was recorded in the Moles Studio in Bath, England and features contributions from The Balanescu Quartet.

At the time of release, Pierce had renamed the band as "Spiritualized Electric Mainline", the name that appears on the album cover, before reverting to the Spiritualized name shortly afterwards.

Pure Phase showcases both a more symphonic sound as well as a dreamy rock grandeur. Think of Brian Wilson and La Monte Young recording together and you'll have a good idea of the Spiritualized totality. Pure Phase is both beautiful and innovative; more than just psychedelic, it's celestial.
