The Amity Affliction is a post-hardcore band formed in Gympie, Queensland, Australia in 2003. The group was initially named "Left Lane Ends" as a tribute to a mutual friend lost in a car accident. With the addition of vocalist Joel Birch in 2004, they released their self-titled EP and continued to evolve their sound.
