BMG Rights Management, formerly known as Bertelsmann Music Group, is a global music conglomerate with a rich history in the industry. Originally formed in 1985 as a joint venture between Bertelsmann AG and RCA, BMG has since evolved into a powerhouse of music production and distribution.

In 1986, Bertelsmann acquired full ownership of RCA and Arista Records through the purchase of their joint venture's stock from General Electric. The following year, these labels were merged under the umbrella of Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), solidifying its position as a major player in the music world.

In 2004, BMG joined forces with Sony Music to create Sony BMG Music Entertainment. However, in 2008, Bertelsmann sold its stake in the company, leading to the formation of BMG Rights Management. Today, BMG continues to thrive as a leading record label and distributor worldwide.

The Kinks are an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1963. The band was founded by brothers Ray and Dave Davies, along with Pete Quaife and Mick Avory. Throughout their career, The Kinks have explored various styles of rock music. In 2018, Ray Davies announced that the band had reformed for a new studio album and potential live performances. The Kinks were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Kinda Kinks, the band's second release, is more or less of a piece with its predecessor. On the previous album, however, the band had used covers to fill the spaces between the Ray Davies originals, and here the tracks are almost all penned by Davies (with the exception of their version of 'Dancing in the Street'). Davies' lovelorn songs had yet to fully flower into elegies for disappearing lifestyles and values (Something Else, three years later, effectively marked that change). But his wistful melodicism can be heard in tunes such as 'Something Better Beginning', 'Don't Ever Change' and 'So Long' which mingle quite nicely with the pop propulsion of 'Tired of Waiting'. With the focus so squarely on the singing songwriter, it's almost easy to forget how powerful the rest of the ensemble was - a tight little rock and roll band of the highest order.
