Ray Charles (born September 23, 1930, Albany, Georgia, USA – died June 10, 2004, Beverly Hills, California, USA) was an American singer, songwriter, musician and composer. He was a legendary artist who made significant contributions to the music industry. Ray Charles was inducted into the *Rock And Roll Hall of Fame* in 1986 as a performer.

His unique blend of rhythm and blues with gospel influences created a distinctive sound that captivated audiences worldwide. Known for his soulful voice and masterful piano skills, Ray Charles became an icon in the music world. Rhino Records, also known as Rhino, is a renowned music label that was established in 1973 by Richard Foos. Starting as a record store in Westwood California, Rhino quickly gained recognition with its first successful release "Go To Rhino Records" by Wild Man Fischer in 1975. The label's early logo featured "Rocky the Rhino" and focused on novelty, surf, local new wave bands, and reissues of out-of-print records from other labels.

Under the guidance of Bill Inglot for production, Ken Perry for mastering, and A&R team Gary Stewart and James Austin, Rhino expanded its catalog to include a wide range of reissues by the mid-1980s. The label underwent a logo redesign during this time period to simply "Rhino". In 1984, Rhino released its first CD and became known for manufacturing high-quality CDs made by Sanyo (1984-85) and various manufacturers from Japan or Switzerland thereafter.

In 1985, Rhino entered into a distribution deal with Capitol Records which lasted until 1992. This partnership allowed access to Capitol's back catalog and led to the release of reissues of old Capitol albums. Additionally, EMI and Rhino acquired the Roulette family of labels in 1989. As their deal with Capitol came to an end in 1992, Time-Warner offered an opportunity for growth. Half of the label was sold to Time-Warner

Atlantic 75 Series

Perhaps the greatest crossover artist that ever was, it is impossible to overstate the impact that Ray Charles had on the evolution of both r&amp;b and rock and roll. Charles' distinctive style transcended genres and influenced musicians from every musical background and from every corner of the globe, but it was during the mid-fifties that charles really began to rule the r&amp;b charts. His legendary debut LP - originally released in 1957 (and later renamed Hallelujah! I Love Her So) for Atlantic - was essentially a collection of those hit singles. In 1955 ray had his first number one hit, I've Got a Woman, followed by his second and third number 1 hits, A Fool For You, and Drown in my Own Tears, over just the next few months. Almost all of the remaining tracks on the album were also top ten hits from that same period, including Greenbacks, Hallelujah! I Love Her So and This Little Girl of Mine. This was undoubtedly the era that defined the legend.
