Sarah Jarosz

Sarah Jarosz is a Grammy Award nominated American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Austin, Texas on May 23, 1991, she began playing the mandolin at the age of 10 and quickly gained recognition in the bluegrass community. By the time she was 14, Jarosz was sharing the stage with icons like David Grisman and Ricky Skaggs.

Aside from her skills on the mandolin, Jarosz also plays guitar, banjo, and piano. She writes most of her own music which blends contemporary and progressive bluegrass with elements of folk, old-timey country, and folk rock. Often compared to Gillian Welch, Jarosz attended the New England Conservatory of Music where she studied contemporary improvisation.

In 2009, during her senior year of high school, Jarosz signed with Sugar Hill Records who released her debut album "Song Up In Her Head". The album earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Country Instrumental Performance for the track "Mansinneedof". It reached #1 on Billboard's Bluegrass chart as well as #21 on the Indie chart and #158 on the Hot 200 (pop) chart.

Her second album "Follow Me Down" was released in 2011 and features nine original tracks along with covers of Radiohead's "The Tourist" recorded with Punch Brothers and Bob Dylan's "Ring Them
