Sid Vicious

Sid Vicious, born John Simon Ritchie, was a British punk musician known for his time as the bassist of the Sex Pistols. Born in London on May 10, 1957, he began his musical career in the mid-1970s as part of London's punk scene. He played drums for Siouxsie & The Banshees and briefly joined the Flowers Of Romance before joining the Sex Pistols in early 1977. After the band disbanded, Sid Vicious performed with various artists and backup musicians. In July 1978, he played his final show in the UK with [a381590].

After moving to New York City, Sid Vicious performed his last gigs at Max's Kansas City in September 1978. However, on October 12th of that year, he was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. Following a suicide attempt ten days later, he was sent to Bellevue Hospital. Tragically, on February 2nd, 1979, while out on bail awaiting trial for murder charges, Sid Vicious died from a drug overdose.

Sid Vicious remains an iconic figure in punk music history due to his involvement with the influential Sex Pistols and his tragic demise at a young age.
