Existential Fears is the debut EP from Swimming Girls; released on a 7” vinyl. Following a similar trajectory to the first two singles 1 2 Many and Pray In Silence, the EP completes this tale of two halves with new tracks I Don’t Wanna Get To Heaven and Holy Place. The collection shows off the powerful pop sensibilities of the group, whilst unearthing a darker and mesmeric, yet equally engrossing facet of the band. Written by band members Vanessa Gimenez and Roo Primrose, the songs explore themes of escapism tied with an anxious loss of self-control, whilst also knuckling down with tougher issues of grief, loss and finding solace. Lead singer Vanessa’s versatile and effortless pop-rock vocal offers the perfect compliment to each track, and whilst the songs are stand-alone feats, they are also unequivocally and unmistakably Swimming Girls.
