System 7

System 7 is a UK-based techno and ambient outfit formed by Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy in 1990. Both artists were previously key members of the pioneering psychedelic space rock collective Gong in the seventies, with Hillage also releasing influential solo LPs including the ambient masterpiece "Rainbow Dome Musick".

Embracing the new wave of electronic music that exploded in the UK at the end of the 80's, System 7 has become known for their dynamic collaborations with luminary artists such as Derrick May, Alex Paterson (of The Orb), Carl Craig, and Laurent Garnier. Their three decades of work have produced some of the very best electronic dance music releases.

In addition to being highly proficient programmers and mixers, System 7 stands out among ambient/techno acts for their use of guitar. Their unique blend of genres sets them apart from similar artists like The Orb, Banco De Gaia, and Ultramarine.
