The Goon Sax is an indie pop trio hailing from Brisbane, Australia. Formed in 2013, the band comprises Riley Jones, Louis Forster, and James Harrison. Notably, Forster is the son of Robert Forster, co-founder of the iconic Australian band The Go-Betweens.
With their unique blend of introspective lyrics and catchy melodies, The Goon Sax has garnered a dedicated following both locally and internationally. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Flowertruck, Body Type, and Dick Diver among others.

Brisbane teens James Harrison, Louis Forster and drummer Riley Jones released their first album when still in high school (think we call that secondary school in the UK). This album was recorded in Melbourne with James Cecil and Cameron Bird (of Architecture in Helsinki). Swaying, lurching pop rattles it’s chains and drags you along in an effluence of happy songs like a mesmerised cult follower of melody. Laconic vocalists are all at ease in their world of music and croon along to the sweetest of swooning organs.

We're Not Talking shows how much can change between the ages of 17 and 19. It's a record that takes the enthusiasms of youth and twists them into darker, more sophisticated shapes. Relationships are now laced with hesitation, remorse, misunderstanding and ultimately compassion. Drummer Riley Jones really comes to the fore here, joining Louis and James in singing lead and writing songs for the first time, making the band the musical equivalent of an equilateral triangle (the strongest shape in physics). Delivering brilliantly human and brutally honest vignettes of adolescent angst, The Goon Sax brim with personality, charm and heart-wrenching honesty. We’re Not Talking is a record made by restless artists, defying expectations as if hardly noticing, and its complexity makes 'We're Not Talking' even more of a marvel. For fans of The Modern Lovers, DIY Australian music from the late 70's and Galaxie 500.
