BMG Rights Management, formerly known as Bertelsmann Music Group, is a global music conglomerate with a rich history in the industry. Originally formed in 1985 as a joint venture between Bertelsmann AG and RCA, BMG has since evolved into a powerhouse of music production and distribution.

In 1986, Bertelsmann acquired full ownership of RCA and Arista Records through the purchase of their joint venture's stock from General Electric. The following year, these labels were merged under the umbrella of Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), solidifying its position as a major player in the music world.

In 2004, BMG joined forces with Sony Music to create Sony BMG Music Entertainment. However, in 2008, Bertelsmann sold its stake in the company, leading to the formation of BMG Rights Management. Today, BMG continues to thrive as a leading record label and distributor worldwide.

The Kinks are an English rock band formed in Muswell Hill, North London, in 1963. The band was founded by brothers Ray and Dave Davies, along with Pete Quaife and Mick Avory. Throughout their career, The Kinks have explored various styles of rock music. In 2018, Ray Davies announced that the band had reformed for a new studio album and potential live performances. The Kinks were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Like Another Side of Bob Dylan and the Beatles' Rubber Soul, Face to Face marks the beginning of the Kinks' classic period. From here on, Kinks records would become more than collections of songs, they'd become coherent frames whose material added up to a complete perspective. This record arguably presents the birth of the 'Concept Album.' and in the subcategory of records vying for first concept album (pre-Tommy, of course), such as SF Sorrow by the Pretty Things, Face to Face is easily the most rewarding. All of Ray Davies's themes are represented: materialism among the english upper class ('House in the Country,' 'Most Exclusive Residence for Sale'), depression ('Too Much on my Mind'), and nostalgia ('I'll Remember'). But these themes always lead Davies to penetrating, timeless songs of resignation, and so it is here ('Sunny Afternoon'). This is mandatory listening for any fan of popular music from the '60s.
